Sunday is Mother’s Day. But to be honest, mom deserves more than just one day. So give her the whole weekend by treating her to a great night of terrific live music and a wonderful meal.

Afterward, it’s time for the show outside!  If you’ve never been before, Music on Main is a series of FREE, family-friendly, outdoor concerts held every Saturday evening (weather and conditions permitting of course)  from 6-8:45pm in the Cinema Circle stage just outside of Southpoint 17 cinemas. The concerts run until October 26th.

This week, Mel Melton & Wicked Mojos (Blues) with DJ/MC John Wilson will will bring some blues to the party!

Holiday Hosting Tips From Crate & Barrel!

I’m a huge fan of multi-tasking —  and I’m not talking about making dinner while texting or playing Angry Birds!

I’m talking about kitchen items that can pull double and even triple duty!  THAT is my idea of multi-tasking. And with Thanksgiving just two days away, I bet you wish there was a way to shave some time off in the kitchen.

I CAN HELP!

When I popped into Crate & Barrel (ZONE A) to look for some ideas for Thanksgiving decor and hostess gifts to show to ya’ll, I noticed this pumpkin right away.  At first glance, the Staub Pumpkin Covered Casserole may look like a fun, seasonal serving dish that can take you through fall. BUT IT’S MUCH MORE!  This cast iron pot can go from oven to table, saving you on washing yet another dish!  Plus, it’s even freezer and dishwasher friendly. The brass vine serves as the handle. So this one dish cooks, serves, stores and cleans! Cinderella, eat your heart out!

Let’s say you’re dashing out to grab a last minute store bought pie (that would be me!). You can add a homemade touch with these Mini Pie Cutters. A store associate gave me a great tip to share here. Buy a pre-made pie crust.  Use the cutters to cut out a few pieces. Bake them for just a few minutes, and then use the shapes to decorate the top of your pie and make it look like it came out of your own kitchen!  I’ll definitely have to try this out!

If you’re looking for a way to add some seasonal spirit to your home or for a hostess gift, check out the Pumpkin Platter. NOW OPEN: Brooks Brothers Flatiron Shop!

Brooks Brothers Flatiron shop at The Streets at Southpoint is quite different from your average Brooks Brothers . The Flatiron shop is a new retail concept and it’s one of three in the United States to feature a  more youthful, preppy twist to the classic styles of this  iconic brand!   Walking into the Flatiron shop, you will find an assortment of collegiate vibe vintage menswear, womens wear (yes ladies, this store is for you too!) and accessories in this playful, yet totally sophisticated shop. 

With its brick walls, antique furniture, trophy props, and brass chandelier lighting, the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming with a cozy Ivy League-esque/ Hunting lodge/library twist
- and don’t forget to say hello to Bartholomew, or “Bart” as they call him, the Caribou!

In this modern, fun space you can find slim-fitting sportswear, worn in oxford shirts, choice pieces from Black Fleece, shoes and more casual suiting.  And we can’t forget color, you will experience an impressive assortment of clothing with bright colors, like colored chinos and polos to express its certain kind of collegiate style. There’s also a huge selection for women, almost half of the store is dedicated to the ladies, with youth oriented fashionable pieces, any lady can find a perfectly good outfit or accessory to compliment her style in the Flatiron Shop, I know I did!

The store is super helpful in the a lot of the outfits are already put together right there for you – whether it be on a mannequin or paired nicely on a hanger,  the guess work is taken out and you know your look will be complete and polished.  

One of my favorite pieces in the store right now is this Cotton Polka Dot Blazer $248.00.
